Why Chakki-Ground Flour Is Better For Your Health
Stone-ground (chakki) flour is milled slowly at low temperatures, which keeps the wheat bran, germ, and endosperm intact together. This preserves natural fibre, B-vitamins, and minerals that are often stripped away in high-speed industrial roller mills. The slower process also avoids the heat build-up that can degrade natural oils in the grain, giving the flour its distinct earthy aroma and taste. Farmers across our partner villages still use traditional chakkis passed down through generations, milling only what is needed for the week to guarantee freshness. When you cook with this flour, you will notice a denser roti with a slightly nutty flavour compared to refined maida-based products.
